Huntingdonshire Field-Names Appeal
Field-names often record habitat descriptions, personal names and even ‘moot’ sites (open air meeting locations) and provide invaluable information for reconstructing the historic environment.
Such data will enable the production of a number of plans that record field-names across the county of Huntingdonshire as a gazetteer for academic research and interest groups.
Whilst many 17th-19th Century estate plans record field-names, not every village in the old County of Huntingdonshire is covered by plans held at archives, libraries and record offices.
Do you recall field-names of your home area? If so, I would be very interested in hearing from you.
